Dr. Selena Magalotti, Medical Director of the Akron Children’s Regional Behavioral Health Center in Mansfield and Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, considers supportive teams and a healthy work/life balance key to her positive experience. Especially when it comes to working with kids and managing a team.

She notes the impact of working closely with the region’s primary care pediatric offices to assist in improving the mental health of more patients.

Nurturing ongoing relationships with mentors helps her keep things big picture. She can always count on getting the guidance she needs. Akron Children’s leadership is equally invested in the long-term growth and development of their teams—they take an individualized approach to not just their patients, but their employees, according to Dr. Magalotti. Everyone is encouraged to build personal interests, and work flexibility is a priority.

“Akron Children’s is focused on children first and how we can work together as a team to best support them, their families and the community,” Dr. Magalotti shares. “Working collaboratively allows us to help more kids. It’s wonderful to be able to support pediatricians and the work they’re doing.”

I’ve been impressed with the work/life balance. Not only within my department, but across the whole hospital. Leadership works on promoting wellness initiatives and they advocate for a manageable experience, encouraging us to be our best selves.
