Location: Palliative Care - Onsite
Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Intern to support clinical and health services research, specifically in collaboration with specialty providers (e.g., cardiology, orthopedics, endocrinology, neurology, etc.). This role provides an opportunity to lead and contribute to translational and health outcomes research within a dynamic academic medical center. The individual will work closely with physicians, clinical teams, biostatisticians, and research staff to design, execute, and publish impactful clinical studies.
Responsibilities:
1. Oversee all aspects of their research project from administrative tasks (e.g., IRB), recruitment, coordinating with study staff, and meeting with Research Institute Faculty/staff regularly for mentorship.
2. Conduct literature reviews and summarize relevant scientific findings.
3. Conduct advanced data analysis using clinical, imaging, and/or registry data (e.g., EMR, REDCap, registries).
4. Help collect and manage clinical data from electronic medical records, patient surveys, or other databases.
5. Support patient recruitment and follow-up efforts (if applicable).
6. Organize and maintain research documentation and regulatory files (e.g., IRB submissions, consent forms).
7. Assist in drafting and editing research materials, reports, posters, or manuscripts.
8. Attend research team meetings, seminars, and training sessions as required.
9. Follow ethical research practices and hospital confidentiality policies at all times.
10. Develop next step research proposal for future funding during the second year.
11. Other duties as required.
Other information:
Qualifications
1. Bachelor's required in relevant field; Enrolled or seeking MD or PhD or postgraduate (e.g., Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Health Services Research, Public Health, Medicine, Biomedical Sciences).
2. Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
3. Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
4. Strong publication record and demonstrated research experience.
5. Experience with statistical software and familiarity with clinical data analysis.
6. Record of active research productivity along with clear evidence of professional competence.
7. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with clinical teams.
Preferred Skills
1. Prior experience in research or healthcare setting is desirable but not required.
2. Understanding of medical terminology or prior coursework in clinical sciences.
3. Familiarity with Institutional Review Board (IRB) procedures
