Full Time (40 hours per week)

Primarily 6:30am to 5:00pm and 7:00am to 5:30pm with weekend and holiday rotation

Onsite for Nutrition Services


Summary:

The Nutritional Feeding Technician is responsible for the accurate preparation, management, and distribution of enteral nutrition, including human milk, infant formulas, tube feedings, and supplements. This role ensures adherence to food safety and sanitation regulations while maintaining quality control in feeding preparation. The technician collaborates with medical and nutrition teams, operates feeding preparation equipment, and participates in inventory management and quality improvement initiatives. 


Responsibilities:

1. Prepare, label, and distribute enteral nutrition (human milk, formulas, tube feedings, and additives) per established guidelines.

2. Manage storage, receipt, and disposal of human milk in accordance with hospital protocols.

3. Maintain sanitation and safety in feeding preparation areas and comply with regulatory standards.

4. Verify patient feeding orders in clinical information systems (EHR), generate production lists, and clarify orders as needed.

5. Calculate and document precise feeding recipes, consulting with dietitians as necessary.

6. Communicate feeding concerns or discrepancies to appropriate personnel, including nurses, dietitians, and medical staff.

7. Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with supply management for feeding preparation.

8. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to compliance requirements.

9. Assist in the Room Service Call Center by processing diet orders and guiding patient meal selections when required.

10. Maintain confidentiality and security of all patient and operational data.

11. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Other information:

Technical Expertise

1. Strong math and computation skills, including passing a feeding order proficiency test.

2. Excellent problem-solving skills.

3. Strong customer service skills with the ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and healthcare staff.

4. Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple priorities efficiently.

5. Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software; experience with EHR systems preferred.

6. Capability to wear PPE for extended periods and tolerate prolonged standing.

Education and Experience

1. Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required, Associate's Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or a related field preferred.

2. Years of Relevant Experience: Two (2) years preferred.

3. Certification: Nutrition and Dietetics technician, Registered (NDTR) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration is preferred. ServSafe is preferred.
