Summary:

The Director of General Accounting will be responsible for managing the general ledger, financial reporting, and audit processes with an emphasis on healthcare-specific standards. The Director will play a key role in supporting the financial health and strategic goals of the organization through accurate reporting and sound fiscal management.

Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the accounting team in managing the organization's financial records, including the general ledger, funds, grants, projects and fixed assets.
  2. Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close and reporting in accordance with GAAP.
  3. Coordinate and lead the annual financial, benefit plan and uniform guidance audits.
  4. Collaborate with internal departments and leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.

5. Provide financial analysis and insight to support operational decisions and strategic initiatives.

6. Maintain and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data.

7. Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting staff.

8. Evaluate and implement process improvements and accounting software systems to enhance efficiency.

9. Monitor compliance with financial policies, procedures, and reporting standards.

10. Stay updated on relevant accounting standards, laws, and regulatory changes impacting the business.

11. Other duties as required.

Other information:

Technical Expertise

1. Experience in the monthly and yearly close process as well as production of GAAP financial statements for a multi-entity organization is required.

2. Experience in working with auditors to complete the annual audit is required.

3. Experience in healthcare is preferred.

4. Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required.

5. Experience with an integrated Accounting/ERP system is required. Workday preferred.

Education and Experience

1. Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required. Master's Degree preferred.

2. Certification: CPA desired (may be inactive strictly due to CPE), or substantial years of relevant experience.

3. Years of experience: 7 years is required.

4. Years of experience supervising: 5 years is required.
